Ye Puts Yeezy Back on the Runway, Four Years After It All Fell Apart
Four years ago, a Yeezy show in Paris kicked off one of the biggest collapses in fashion history. On Wednesday night, Ye tried to start over. He staged Yeezy Season 01, the brand's first major runway show since 2022, at his new Los Angeles flagship on Beverly Boulevard.
It wasn't a typical catwalk. According to Complex, models in mostly minimal, single-color looks walked in circles around a big white hill, while unreleased Ye songs played. Rapper Nettspend was one of the models, and the show was streamed online. The guest list was loaded: 2 Chainz, Kid Cudi, Big Sean, Natalie Nunn, ASAP Nast, and Fear of God designer Jerry Lorenzo, plus North West and Bianca Censori.
To understand why people are paying attention, you have to remember how it ended last time. At his Season 9 show in Paris in October 2022, Ye wore a "White Lives Matter" T-shirt. That, along with antisemitic comments soon after, led Adidas to cut ties within weeks. Gap had already ended its partnership. Adidas was left with about $1.2 billion in unsold Yeezy shoes, which is wild when you consider the line was bringing in an estimated $1.7 billion a year for Adidas by 2020.
The years since haven't been quiet. In January 2026, Ye took out a full-page ad in The Wall Street Journal apologizing to the people he hurt, writing that he is not a Nazi or an antisemite. Even so, the U.K. barred him from entering, and London's Wireless Festival cancelled his headline set.
So this show is about more than clothes. It's a test of whether the fashion world, and shoppers, are willing to take Ye seriously again.
