Heidi Klum Went to Her Own Party as a Giant Severed Hand
Every year we wonder how Heidi Klum can possibly top herself, and every year she finds a stranger's answer. For her 25th annual Halloween party, held Saturday night at Cathédrale in New York City, the self-proclaimed queen of Halloween showed up as a life-size severed hand.
Yes, really. Her legs formed two of the fingers, the nails were painted bright red, the fingers were stacked with gold rings, and her face poked out of a bloody gash at the wrist. Her daughter Leni even revealed that Heidi's actual wedding ring was part of the jewelry. Helpers dressed in yellow hazmat suits and masks walked her down the blue carpet, playing along like they were handling evidence at a crime scene.
None of this came together quickly. Klum said she came up with the idea last year, and a team spent months building and painting the hand, right down to the veins. It took about 10 to 15 people just to get her into it on the day. She said it turned out exactly the way she wanted. She'd been teasing for weeks that this one would be "very, very bloody," and she wasn't exaggerating.
Her husband Tom Kaulitz missed the party because he's on tour. Klum joked that he could have been the other hand, then made it clear who's in charge: Tom does not get the final say on couple costumes. Leni came as Miss Piggy, complete with a purple feather boa, pearls and a pink snout. Sofía Vergara, Kyle MacLachlan and Lindsey Vonn were spotted at her pre-party on Thursday.
The hand now joins a legendary list that includes last year's Medusa, E.T. in 2024, a peacock in 2023 and the infamous giant earthworm in 2022.
