So Fresh, So Clean: Nike Turns Georgia Football and Outkast Into a Fashion Drop
College football merch usually means a hoodie and a hat. This one comes with a $1,200 varsity jacket and a hip-hop history lesson.
Nike, the University of Georgia, and Atlanta legends Outkast teamed up with streetwear label Class Trip for a limited collection called Outkast U. On Saturday, October 31, Georgia and Florida play in Atlanta for the first time in the rivalry's history. The game has been in Jacksonville since 1933.
The designs come straight from André 3000's and Big Boi's own wardrobes. The main logo places Outkast's crown atop Georgia's "G." Every jersey carries the number 96, a nod to 1996, when Outkast released ATLiens and a young Kirby Smart played safety for the Bulldogs. The standout piece is a red wool varsity jacket with black leather sleeves, chenille patches and "Georgia" and "Outkast" across the back. There are also mesh and cotton jerseys, rugby shirts, a satin bomber, hoodies, graphic tees with lines like "So Fresh, So Clean", and hats starting around $50.
It isn't just for fans. Georgia's players and coaches get exclusive on-field gear for the game, including eye-shield decals, skullcaps, gloves and mouthguards with the Outkast crown. The campaign photos were shot in Athens with six Georgia athletes recreating classic Outkast images.
Pieces started dropping today on Nike's SNKRS app, Class Trip, and select Atlanta stores, with the full range coming to nike.com tomorrow. CBS Atlanta reports some items have already sold out online. A game-day pop-up will also be at Mercedes-Benz Stadium.
