A Three-Hour Elizabeth Holmes Documentary Just Beat Batman's Villain at the Box Office
Here's a sentence nobody expected to write this year: a documentary is America's No. 1 movie. "You Can See Everything", the film about Theranos founder Elizabeth Holmes directed by Nathan Fielder and Lance Oppenheim, topped the Halloween weekend box office with an estimated $10.6 million.
What makes it even stranger is how it got there. It didn't open at No. 1. It came in second in its first weekend, stayed second in its second, and only climbed to the top in its third. That's pretty much unheard of. CinemaBlend says it's only the fourth documentary ever to win a weekend, joining "Fahrenheit 9/11", Michael Jackson's "This Is It" and Taylor Swift's "The Official Release of a Showgirl". The other three all did it on the opening weekend. The film has now made about $63.9 million at home, which is wild for a movie that reportedly cost around $7 million.

The film it beat was DC's "Clayface", which pulled in $10.4 million, losing by about $200,000. That's a 57% drop from its opening, and it's now at $44.1 million domestically on a reported $44 million budget. Laika's animated "Wildwood" was third with $7.5 million, followed by the Olivia Colman and Alexander Skarsgård comedy "Wicker" at $4.1 million.
Overall, it was a sleepy weekend. Total ticket sales were expected to land around $56 million, the second-worst weekend of the year, mostly because Halloween fell on Saturday and people had better things to do than sit in a theatre. The good news for cinemas is that the year is still running more than 17% ahead of 2025.
