A Documentary Is Beating a DC Superhero Movie at the Halloween Box Office
No big new releases opened this Halloween weekend, which left two films scrapping for first place, and the winner isn’t the one with the cape. A24’s documentary “You Can See Everything” grabbed No. 1 for the first time with an estimated $10.6 million. Warner Bros./DC’s “Clayface” was right behind at about $10.2 million.
The documentary’s total is around $63 million, making it October’s second-biggest earner behind Amazon MGM’s “Verity”. It slipped 43% from its second weekend. “Clayface” fell 57% from its opening and sits at roughly $44 million after ten days, so it won’t catch Warner’s “Wuthering Heights” ($241 million) as the studio’s top 2026 release. Still, with a reported $40 million budget, it should turn a profit.
Behind them: Laika’s “Wildwood” at $6.8 million, low-budget indie “Wicker” at $4.1 million (it cost just $2.5 million at Sundance), and Paramount’s “Street Fighter” at $3.5 million with $53 million total. October as a whole has been soft, so these two have helped keep things from sliding. All numbers are estimates.
